New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - Everything was clicking on Sunday for the Jackals as they took the rubber game of the series against the game 8-1.

Spotty starting pitching, inconsistent and impatient hitting as well as some bad luck forced the Jackals into their first two game losing streak of the year, but Sunday's effort proved that the Jackals have returned to their first place ways.

Mike Vicaro started on the mound for the Jackals and the pitcher who started the season as a reliever and replaced the injured Aaron Looper was nothing short of amazing. Through seven full innings Vicaro allowed just one hit, giving up no runs and striking out five in the process.

Offensively the Jackals gave Vicaro plenty of help to secure the victory. Second baseman Zack Smithlin was the table setter for the day going 4-4 with a walk, double, RBI, three stolen bases and three runs. Designated hitter Sandy Madera continued his superb season and even better week by reaching base all five times and blasting a two run home run over the left field wall. The home run was Madera's eighth of the season. Madera also ripped an RBI double in the eighth.

Catcher Clay Kuklick reached base all five times he was up including two singles and an RBI. Kuklick's batting average was raised to .417 in the process.

Smithlin, Madera, and Kuklick were on base 15 out of 15 times collectively.

Center fielder Josh Colafemina would provide the only offense for the Grays when he drove in second baseman Gavin Monjaras on an RBI groundout in the eighth.

Vicaro won the game for the Jackals, defeating his counterpart Elliot Shaw of the Grays.
