The Quebec Capitales shutout the North Shore Spirit for the second straight game thanks to a solid pitching performance by Michel Simard. Simard went eight terrific innings allowing only five hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Simard improves his record to 5-1 on the year. The Capitales broke open a tight ball game with a six run seventh inning highlighted by a two-run home run by 1B Mike Galloway. Galloway finished the afternoon 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI. For the Spirit in the losing cause, DH Brad Rea had two hits in three at-bats.

Nashua 9, New Haven County 3

The Nashua Pride plated 9 runs and pounded out 15 hits en route to a six-run victory over the New Haven County Cutters. Pride leadoff hitter John Ramistella and SS Olmo Rosario led the way by going a combined 7-for-10 at the plate with six runs scored, four runs driven in and three doubles. 3B Matt Creighton also chipped in a 3-for-5 effort with three RBI. Nashua RHP Angelo Burrows pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with a strikeout to pickup the win and even his mark at 1-1.

Brockton RHP Mike McTamney put on a sensational pitching display this afternoon as the Rox shutdown the Worcester Tornadoes. McTamney hurled 126 pitches in a complete game shutout allowing only four hits while striking out six Worcester batters. The Rox starter gets his first win of the season and improves his record to 1-3. 1B Francisco Lebron led the way for Brockton offensively going 1-for-3 with two runs scored, including his fifth dinger of the season. Worcester leadoff hitter Josh Beauregard went 2-for-4 in the game.

New Jersey 8, Grays 1

The New Jersey Jackals continued their winning ways behind a strong outing from starting pitcher Michael Vicaro. Vicaro did not allow a run and surrendered only one hit while striking out five through seven innings of work to improve to 2-2 on the year. The win for the Jackals moves them to 21-8 on the year, keeping them 1.5 games ahead of Quebec for first place in the Can-Am League. Jackals DH Sandy Madera led the offensive effort, going 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. New Jersey 2B Zach Smithlin also had a great day at the dish. He was 4-for-4 with three runs scored.

The Atlantic City Surf got a solid outing from starting pitcher Monte Mansfield to improve their record to 14-15 on the year. Mansfield allowed one run on five hits and struck out six through six innings of work. The Surf recorded 10 hits in support of Mansfield, who improved to 2-4. Atlantic City RF Robert Fischer led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and was the only Surf player to record more than one hit. Sussex LF/1B Alex Frazier hit his third home run of the year in the losing effort. He finished the game 1-for-3.
