Jackals Drop Third Straight For First Time In 2012
June 25, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Jersey Jackals News Release
The Capitales scored three runs in the top of the first, more than enough for Capitales starter Bryan Rembisz. He threw eight scoreless, allowing two hits. Rewarded with his Can-Am leading fifth win of the year, Rembisz improves to 5-1 as the Canadian-side cruised to a 3-0 victory on a cool, calm Monday evening at Yogi Berra Stadium.
Now 25-12, the Capitales collected only six hits in the game. However, a single by Jonathan Malo, walks by Sebastien Boucher, Josue Peley, and Patrick D'Aoust, plus a hit-by-pitch courtesy of Bobby Wagner - all in the first inning - gave Quebec the 3-0 advantage they would never relinquish.
Closer T.J. Stanton pitched the ninth, recording is sixth save of the season.
Take out that first inning, and Jackals starter Craig Clark was very good, allowing no runs and four hits through the next six. Still, he drops to 3-2 on the season.
As for the Jackals offense, Bryan Sabatella, Steve Caseres, and Jeff Lanning singled.
The loss is also the third straight for the second-place Jackals, the first three-game slide they've experienced all season. They drop to 21-15 on the year, 3.5 games back of the Capitales. The Jackals are now 699-599 in franchise history.
The two teams will square off once again on Tuesday night at Yogi Berra Stadium at 7:05 p.m. Jackals' ace Isaac Pavlik (3-0, 3.98) gets the start and will be looking to tie Joel Bennett's all-time Jackals' wins record of 59. The Capitales will send the Can-Am's wins leader Karl Gelinas (5-0, 2.53) to the hill.
The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. 2012 single-game tickets, season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 973-746-7434.
