Grand Prairie 14, New Jersey 4
The Grand Prairie AirHogs started off strong and didn't look back as they took an inter-league affair from New Jersey 14-4. The AirHogs scored before even registering an out in the top of the first when CF Keanon Simon scored on a double by 2B Bryan Frichter after reaching on a lead-off single. Simon finished the game with a team-high three RBI and three hits in six at bats. After tacking on two more in the second the AirHogs opened up the game in the third with six runs. All of New Jersey's runs came on home runs as LF Angel Berroa, 3B Nick Giarraputo and C Jeff Lanning each left the yard. P John Brownell earned the win for a complete game performance.
Rockland 18, Quebec 12
The Quebec Capitales and the Rockland Boulders combined for 30 runs Sunday afternoon as the Boulders prevailed 18-12. All nine Rockland batters registered at least one hit and five Boulders had three hits as the team racked up 21 for the game. LF Jon Smith was one of those players with three hits and two of his were home runs. Smith had a game-high five RBI. Quebec took a 2-0 in the top of the first and Rockland answered with three runs of their own. Quebec couldn't sit the Boulders down fast enough between the third and seventh inning as Rockland bolted out to an 18-7 lead. The Capitales tried to rally in the eighth by putting up five runs but it wouldn't be enough. Quebec C Josue Peley was impressive, going 3-for-6 with four RBI and his 13th double of the year.
Newark 8, Worcester 4
The Newark Bears used a seven-hit, four-run rally in the eighth inning to pull away from the Worcester Tornados and went on to win 8-4. Worcester 3B Johnny Welch tied up the game at 4 in the seventh inning with his ninth home run of the season. But the Bears had an answer in the eighth. The eighth inning scoring started on a sacrifice fly from RF Danny Santiesteban that scored 3B Alex Bardequez. CF Bryce Lane, LF Burt Reynolds and C Billy Alvino each had RBI singles following the Santiesteban sac fly. Reynolds had a home run earlier in the ball game and finished 2-for-3 with four RBI. P Greg Lane earned the win for his relief efforts in the seventh inning.
