Little Falls, NJ - New Jersey Jackals pitcher Sean Thompson (1-1) held the American Defenders of New Hampshire to just one run over six innings in New Jersey's 12-1 victory on ‘Mortgage Monday' at Yogi Berra Stadium.

The Jackals started off the game strong against New Hampshire pitcher Miguel Flores (5-2), racking up an impressive five runs in the first inning. New Jersey bats heated up quickly by loading the bases on singles from Marcus Sanders, Quentin Davis, and Mike DeJesus.

Pitcher Miguel Flores walked Myron Leslie and gave up singles to Matt Lauderdale and Mike Scanzano, allowing the Jackals' first five runs to score.

DeJesus kept the Jackals bats alive in the second inning with an impressive stand up triple. Line drive singles from Leslie, Matt Lauderdale, and Quinn Stewart brought the Jackals score up to 7-0. The New Hampshire bats tried rallying back in the sixth inning with a line drive by Matt Nandin, the first hit surrendered by Thompson. An RBI single for Greg Lemon put the Defenders on the scoreboard 7-1.

The Jackals added to their six-run lead with RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh by Leslie and Stewart, bringing the score to 9-1 in favor of New Jersey. With the bases loaded, Billy Kovatch walked to bring the Jackals up another run, 10-1.

With relief pitcher David Wasylak in the game for New Hampshire, the Jackals continued scoring runs in the seventh inning. Wasylak allowed the Jackals to score their 11th run when he walked Scanzano with the bases loaded. A single from Zack Smithlin drove in the Jackals' 12th and final run of the ballgame.

The Jackals held the Defenders to only one run in the game as Kevin Gunter closed it out for New Jersey in the ninth inning. The Jackals finished with an impressive 14 hits in their 12-1 victory over New Hampshire.

New Jersey will be back in action tomorrow as they continue their series against New Hampshire, with Stuart Pomeranz (5-5) taking the mound for the Jackals against the Defenders' Alex Woodson (1-1).
