New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The Jackals evened up their 2006 record at 7-7 with a 4-3 over the Nashua Pride at Holman Stadium.

It was a pitchers' duel after three innings of baseball. John Kelly scattered two Pride hits up until that point, and Josh Thigpen no-hit the Jackals, while allowing only one baserunner.

But in the fourth, Thigpen struggled with his control. He walked five Jackals, two of them issued with the bases loaded. In total, the Jackals scored three runs in the inning, including an RBI single by Bill Peavey. In total, Pride pitchers issued 12 walks in the game.

John Lindsey's RBI single in the fifth, extended the Jackals lead to 4-0.

Nashua finally broke through versus John Kelly in the bottom of the fifth, slashing the Jackal lead in half.

The Pride again inched closer in the bottom of the seventh. With Kade Johnson aboard second, Mark Hamilton attempted a bunt to move him up into scoring position, but reliever Josh Schwartz unleashed an errant throw to first base, allowing Johnson to score, and make it a 4-3 game. But thanks to Jackal relievers Schwartz and Willy Espinal, the score stayed that way.

John Kelly earned his first win as a Jackal. He lasted six innings, while allowing three runs, two of them earned, on six hits. He walked only one and fanned two. The save went to Willy Espinal.
