New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, N.J. - The New Jersey Jackals are pleased to announce that the Cleveland Indians have purchased the contract of second baseman Argenis Reyes. Reyes will report to the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, where he finished the 2010 season.
Through 60 games with the Jackals this season, the 28-year-old batted .306 with two home runs and 29 RBIs while serving as the team's starting second baseman and primary leadoff hitter.
Reyes previously had his contract sold by the Jackals last July when the Boston Red Sox sent him to Triple-A Pawtucket before trading him to the Indians in early August. In 30 Triple-A contests in 2010, Reyes batted .303. The Dominican Republic native spent parts of the 2008 and 2009 seasons at the major league level with the New York Mets, playing 58 games.
Reyes is the 24th player the Jackals have sold to an affiliated organization since 2006 and the second this season as outfielder Leonard Davis had his contract purchased by the Washington Nationals on July 25.
The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. 2011 single-game tickets, season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 973-746-7434.
