LITTLE FALLS, NJ - Angel Molina had four hits including three doubles and drove in four runs as the Pittsfield Colonials finished off their series against the New Jersey Jackals with a 9-2 win.
For the first time in their last seven games, the Colonials scored the first runs of the game as after Danny Bomback walked and Billy Mottram singled with two outs in the first inning, Angel Molina doubled off the leftfield wall to score both runners and give the Colonials a 2-0 lead. Pittsfield would add to the lead in the third when they plated three runs on four hits including Molina's second RBI hit of the game to go up 5-0.
Jerod Edmondson provided the Colonials with a run in the fourth as he walked to lead off the frame, stole second and third and came in to score on a wild pitch. Two more runs came in during the fifth inning on an RBI single by Keith Beauregard and an error to make it 8-0 Pittsfield.
New Jersey would get on the board with a pair of runs on the benefit of just one hit in the seventh to cut the Colonials lead to 8-2. Pittsfield would respond with one in the eighth when Molina delivered his third double and fourth hit of the day to score Billy Mottram and push the advantage to seven.
T. J. Wink (3-0) pitched six shutout innings for the victory. He allowed five hits and struck out four. Jon Kibbler (0-4) allowed eight runs in five innings in taking the loss.
In addition to Molina, Mottram had three hits and scored three runs and Bomback had two hits and scored twice.
The Colonials stay in the state of New Jersey to take on the Newark Bears for three games, starting on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. Miguel Flores (1-7, 4.61) will start the opener for Pittsfield. The pregame show will begin at 6:15 p.m. on pittsfieldcolonials.com.
