Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced on Sunday that they have added goaltender Brian Stewart to their roster on assignment from their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. The Jackals have also placed defenseman Stephen Mallaro on waivers.

Stewart, a second-year pro, began the season with Elmira before being recalled by Binghamton on Oct. 29. The Burnaby, British Columbia native is 1-1 with the Jackals this season with a .933 save percentage and a 3.01 goals-against average. Stewart set an Elmira regular-season, single-game record in ECHL play with 53 saves in a 3-2 loss at Wheeling on Oct. 22.

Last season, Stewart led the ECHL with a .927 save percentage and was named to the 2011 ECHL All-Rookie Team, tending net primarily with the Bakersfield Condors.

Mallaro skated in three games with the Jackals, recording four penalty minutes.

After defeating Kalamazoo on Saturday, the Jackals host the Gwinnett Gladiators this Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at First Arena. To reserve your seats call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
