Aces Use Three in Third to Beat Condors 4-2

The Aces got four goals, from four different players, including three in the third period to outlast the Bakersfield Condors 4-2 from Sullivan Arena on Saturday night. Alaska improved their season record to 7-3, including a 7-1 home record. The Aces 14 points are tied for the ECHL lead with Utah and South Carolina. Alaska scored the only goal of the first period when Bryan Miller's wrist shot from just inside the blueline snuck through traffic and past Bryan Pitton at 16:15. The Aces outshot the Condors 14-8 in the period.

The Condors tied the score in the middle frame. Matt Marquardt blistered a one-timer from the right circle on a man-advantage at 3:02 to make it 1-1. The teams went to the third period tied with Bakersfield outshooting Alaska 12-9 in the frame.

After just two goals in the first 40 minutes, the clubs combined for four in the final frame. Alaska took a 2-1 lead when Scott Howes scored his first of the season on a nice set-up Chris Bruton at 5:52 of the third period. Bakersfield quickly tied the game when Matthew Sisca put home a rebound attempt at 6:53 to make it 2-2. The Aces went back up by a goal at 9:35 when Brandon Gentile scored right off of a faceoff to give Alaska a 3-2 advantage. The Aces padded their lead on Garry Nunn's second goal in as many games off of the IR at 14:05, to give Alaska their second straight victory.

Gerald Coleman (7-3) earned the win, making 27 saves on 29 shots, and Bryan Pitton (1-3-1) made 27 saves on 31 shota, suffering the loss. The Aces power play went 0-3, while the Condors went 1-3. Alaska outshot Bakersfield 31-29 in the game.
