Jackals Add To Blue Line In Trade With Charlotte

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that they have acquired defenseman Mike Hartwick from the Charlotte Checkers (ECHL) in exchange for future considerations.

Hartwick, a 24-year old rookie from Bedford, NH, comes to Elmira after appearing in one contest with the Checkers this season with no points and two penalty minutes. After completing his amateur career last spring with Dartmouth College, he appeared in seven games in 2006-07 with Wheeling (ECHL) with one assist and 18 penalty minutes.

In four seasons at Dartmouth (ECACHL-NCAA), Hartwick skated in 122 games with the Big Green. The stay-at-home defender scored one goal and registered 16 assists for 17 points and 171 minutes in penalties during his stay in Hanover. While with Dartmouth, Hartwick was part Big Green squads that advanced to the ECACHL Final Four three times with a pair of fourth place finishes and one third.

Hartwick is expected to be in the line-up Friday when Elmira concludes a two-game series with Cincinnati. The Jackals defeated the Cyclones 5-2 in their first-ever meeting Wednesday night.

The Jackals conclude their three-game home stand Friday when they host the Cincinnati Cyclones in a 7:35 p.m. face off at First Arena before taking on the Reading Royals Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA.
