Goaltender Wiikman Assigned To Checkers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers have been assigned goaltender, Miika Wiikman from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Wiikman, 5-foot-11, 177 pounds, played the last three seasons in the Finnish League before coming over to North America this year. The Mariestad, Sweden native suited up for two games this season with the Wolf Pack totaling a record of 1-0 with a 4.32 goals against average and a .872 save percentage.

The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Nov. 7 against the South Carolina Stingrays In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
