Odessa Jackalopes News Release


(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes completed a three game weekend with pair of wins giving them 35 victories on the season with six games left in the regular season. Three of Odessa's remaining six games will be at home.

Last week's record: 2-1-0

This week's games: Thursday vs. Corpus Christi, Saturday at Wichita, Sunday at Amarillo

Friday vs. Laredo, 3-1 WIN

Jeff Pierce continued his CHL Rookie of the Year campaign with two goals in the third period -- a power play goal that broke a 1-1 tie, and an empty net goal to seal the 3-1 win. Odessa is 3-0-0 against Laredo this season, and will close their regular season on March 21st against the Bucks.

Saturday at Texas, 5-3 LOSS

Odessa came back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game at 3-3 in the third period. With seven minutes remaining in regulation the Jacks were tagged with a boarding major, giving the Brahmas a five minute power play. Jason Deitch scored the game winner with :12 left in the power play for Texas and Jordan Cameron added an empty net goal.

Sunday vs. Mississippi, 3-2 WIN

The Jackalopes stopped the Riverkings winning streak at 11 games with a 3-2 win. Sebastien Thinel and Mike Ramsay each scored third period, power play goals to take the lead. The Jacks held off a last minute rush as Mississippi opted for the extra skater to seal the win.

Thursday vs. Corpus Christi, 7:05 PM

It's the final meeting of the season between Corpus and Odessa but the first for the IceRays' new head coach, Brent Hughes. The IceRays are currently in a battle with Arizona for the final playoff spot in the Southern Conference - Corpus is two points ahead of the Sundogs and in control of that final spot.

Saturday at Wichita, 7:05 PM

It's the second matchup of the season between the Jacks and Thunder. Odessa lost 6-5 in overtime in their last trip to the Kansas Coliseum. Jason Tessier scored the OT winner for Wichita in the last game back on February 7th.

Sunday at Amarillo, 4:05 PM

The Southwest Division rivals meet for the final time this season as Odessa is 5-3-0 against the Gorillas. The Jackalopes are 3-0-0 in games played at the Amarillo Civic Center. Sebastien Thinel and Dominic Leveille lead all skaters in the season series with 16 points.
