
Jackalopes Leave Thursday's Game to the Dogs

(Odessa, TX) - On Thursday, March 12th against the Corpus Christi IceRays, the Odessa Jackalopes will hold their first ever "Dogs and Ice Night" at the Ector County Coliseum to raise money for charity. Fans will be able to bring their dogs to the game.
Dog owners must purchase a "pooch pass" for their canine with all the proceeds will go to the Lone Star SPCA and the first 200 dogs will receive name tags courtesy of Pet Mystique. Other vendors will also be set up around the concourse during the game. With an additional donation to the Lone Star SPCA, fans can have pictures taken of their dogs with the Jacks' mascot, SlapJack and/or a player prior to the game.
Families wishing to adopt a dog can also speak with representatives from Lone Star SPCA.
"This is a natural for us," said Jackalopes Asst. GM Bill Levy. "We strive to provide fun inexpensive family entertainment and it is only appropriate we offer the entire family a chance to experience a Jacks game."
The Andrews County Sheriffs Department will hold a demonstration at 6:10 (after the doors open). Their will also be a ceremony honoring the country's service dogs prior to and during the National Anthem. Police dogs from Andrews, Midland, and Ector Counties along with the city of Big Spring will also be in attendance. Lakota, a service dog who volunteers at the Allison Cancer Center and the Midland Memorial Hospital is slated to drop the ceremonial first puck.
Other activities include a loudest bark contest and a Head Coach Paul Gillis look-alike contest. There will also be a "celebrity dog walk" in the first intermission featuring local personalities from the Midland/Odessa communities and Chuey, the Midland High Bulldog.
Dogs must enter through the west side of the Coliseum and will be allowed in the picnic area on the west side as well.
The Jackalopes will also off a $1.00 Hot Dog special during Thursday's game.
