Isotopes Counting Down to 4- Million Fans
August 20, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
In addition to a potential drive to the playoffs, the Albuquerque Isotopes upcoming 13-game homestand will feature the arrival of the franchise's 4-millionth fan, who is expected to walk through the turnstiles at Isotopes Park early next week.
So far this season, the âTopes have drawn 497,480 fans, raising the franchise total to 3,971,393 since the team's inception in 2003. With just 28,607 fans to go, the âTops are expected to eclipse the 4-million mark around Monday or Tuesday, during the team's four-game series against the Nashville Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
The lucky guest who happens to be the 4-millionth through the turnstiles will be lavished with a âTopes prize-pack that includes a bat autographed by the 2009 Isotopes squad, a commemorative jersey, and four free airline tickets to anywhere in North America courtesy of American Airlines. The fan will also be recognized on the field during the game when the attendance becomes official.
Albuquerque currently ranks third in the Pacific Coast League in attendance, averaging 8,432 a game. The âTopes are also on pace to shatter the team's single season attendance mark of 593,606 set last season. Through 59 games during the record-setting year, the Isotopes had drawn 485,355, more than 12,000 fewer fans than at the same point this season.
The Isotopes are back in town this Saturday for a 13-game homestand, the longest in team history, that kicks off with a visit by the Zooperstars on Saturday before a seat cushion giveaway to the first 3,000 fans on Sunday. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
