Charlottetown Islanders News Release
Two teams that have gotten awfully familiar with each other over the month of November will square off once again, as the Charlottetown Islanders and Acadie-Bathurst Titan will face off at 7:30pm at the Eastlink Centre tonight.
The Maritime Division rivals will play against one another for the third time this month and the sixth time this season. After tonight, the two teams will meet just three more times before the end of the season. The Isles have had the upper hand thus far in the season series, holding a 4-0-1-0 record over the Titan so far. Charlottetown has outscored Bathurst 22-9 in that span.
Derek Gentile and Nikita Alexandrov have been lethal against the Titan this season. Gentile has recorded seven assists through five games, while Alexandrov has recorded four goals and four assists thus far.
The Islanders will be without defenseman Alexander Dersch for this game. The 6'3 German is taking part in tryouts for Germany's World Junior team back in his home country.
For Bathurst, the team has slowly begun to right the ship since the arrival of new head coach Mario Durocher. The long-time QMJHL coach took the reigns for the Titan midway through November when then-coach Bryan Lizotte stepped away for family reasons. The team has since tightened up in some noticeable areas, something Islanders head coach Jim Hulton noticed first-hand.
"The coaching change has started to take effect, and you could see that in our last game." said Hulton on Tuesday. "It was lot tighter through the neutral zone, and a lot tougher getting to the net. They're starting to play the right way to win hockey games."
Marc-Andre LeCouffe looks to continue his strong play since the arrival of Durocher. The New Brunswick native has points in four straight games, including two goals against Charlottetown. He's coming off of a two-point performance against the Sherbrooke Phoenix on Sunday, November 25th.
You can catch all of tonight's action live at the Eastlink Centre. Tickets are available at the Eastlink Centre box office, by phone at 902-629-6625, or online at https://boxoffice.eastlinkcentrepei.com. Don't forget it's Olde Dublin Pub Happy Hour! We can't wait to see you cheering on your Islanders!
