The score was the same as last week. How they got there, however, was a little different.

The Charlottetown Islanders came from behind with two third-period goals to defeat the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 2-1, their third victory over the Titan this month.

"We did a really good job of sticking with it." said head coach Jim Hulton on the victory. "It's a good show of the resilience that the club is starting to build up."

Liam Murphy would get the Titan on the board in the first period. After poking the puck past a pinching Jacob Arsenault, Murphy would streak down the left wing and fire a wrister over the shoulder of Islanders starter Dakota Lund-Cornish. The goal would be Murphy's seventh of the season.

The Islanders did their absolute best to pound Titan starter Mark Grametbauer with shots throughout the game. Known for their tendency to give up plenty of shots, the Titan defense performed admirably, limiting the Islanders opportunities to outside, low-danger chances.

"We talked in the second intermission that it might take 50 shots, and it darn near did." said the Isles head coach and general manager.

It took the Islanders until the start of the third period to finally solve Grametbauer. As a powerplay expired, Keith Getson would wrap around the net and poke the puck to Derek Gentile. He'd tap the puck in to the open cage for his sixth goal of the season.

The Islanders would keep the pressure on the Titan throughout the third period, pushing for that go-ahead goal. They'd finally break the deadlock near the end of the third. Off a scramble in front, Cole Edwards would bat the puck in out of mid-air and past Grametbauer. It took some deliberation from the officials and a trip upstairs, but the go-ahead goal counted, giving Edwards his third of the season.

"It's always good to get those goals." said Edwards on his first game-winning goal of his Q career. "I got a lucky bounce, the puck popped up in the air off the goalie, and I took a swing at it."

The Islanders would take a late penalty with less than two minutes to go in the game, causing some nervousness amongst the Eastlink Centre fans. Charlottetown would hunker down though and stymie the Titan offense, taking a 2-1 victory over their Maritime Division Rival.

Hulton gave credit where credit was due to the Isles opponents, who showed once again that their coaching change have yielded benefits.

"They've worked a ton on their D zone coverage." said Hulton of the Titan. "When I first talked to Mario [Durocher] one of his big mandates with this club was that they locked up the D zone and made it difficult to score, and they did that."

"Some times it takes the full 60 minutes and tonight was an example of that."

The Isles are back in action on Sunday afternoon as they take on the Val D'Or Foreurs on Family Day. Youth 12 and under are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Tickets are available at the Eastlink Centre box office, by phone at 902-629-6625, or online at https://boxoffice.eastlinkcentrepei.com. We'll see you there!
