Charlottetown Islanders News Release

The Islanders look to improve to 3-0-0 on the season after last weekend's great start against Halifax.

Tonight, the 2-0-0 Moncton Wildcats come to town. They had an explosive offense against the Cape Breton Eagles, scoring 13 goals in their two games, while also only allowing one goal in the two game set.

Charlottetown looks to stay hot taking the first two games of the season, out scoring the Mooseheads 9-2 in their two games.

Carter Bickle, who looked great stopping 23 of 24 shots against Halifax leading the Isles to the win, will be tending the goal tonight.

Newcomer Matthew Butler looks to get on the scoresheet for the first time despite displaying his skills in the season opening series.

Tonight is also the debut for the Kearsey's Kids program, where one kid with the Big Brothers Big Sisters will be able to have a meet and greet with Marcus Kearsey, sit on the bench during warmup, and get a free limited-time Kearsey's Kids t-shirt.

Coach Jim Hulton recognized the challenge ahead.

"Obviously it's a pretty formidable Moncton club coming in today. I think the challenge will be matching their speed and just sticking to our game," he said.

Puck drop at Eastlink Centre tonight is at 7:30.

On Saturday, the Isles take on the 1-1 Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

The Titan dropped one to the Saint John Sea Dogs but took the second one in the extra frame to even their record out.

Aksels Ozols will get his second start of the season Saturday night against the Titan after stopping 19 of 20 shots in the Home Opener.

Alexis Michaud looks to continue his hot-streak as well, after posting two goals and four points in the Home Opener.

Despite not getting on the board yet, Hulton has great confidence in newly acquired Cole Huckins.

"Huckins and his linemates of Morneau and Horth look good," he said. "With a veteran guy coming off of a 28 goal season, it's only a matter of time."

Puck drop on Saturday night is at 7 at the Eastlink Centre. Purchase tickets to both games by calling the box office by calling 902-629-6625 or purchase online here.
