Charlottetown Islanders News Release
Coming off of an extended eight-day break due to the CIBC Canada-Russia Series, the Charlottetown Islanders hit the road for a Saturday night affair against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
The Islanders (13-7-1-0) have the Titan's number this season, holding a 2-0-1-0 record thus far against their Maritime Division rivals. Charlottetown is one of the hottest teams in the QMJHL, having lost just twice in their last ten games, outscoring their opponents 51-34 in that span. They're coming off of a pair of big home victories last weekend against the Moncton Wildcats and Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
Daniel Hardie continues to be on a torrid point-scoring pace, having scored five goals and eight points in five November games so far. His 15 goals on the season is good for 3rd overall in the QMJHL. His linemates Kevin Gursoy and Keith Getson are tied for second on the Islanders with 19 points respectively. For Gursoy, those 19 points represent a career high.
Matthew Welsh, Pierre-Olivier Joseph, and Jim Hulton will all join their teammates following their stints with Team QMJHL at the Canada-Russia Series. Defenseman Lukas Cormier will also rejoin the Islanders line-up for the first time in five games. He was a member of Team Canada Red at the recent World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Saint John, New Brunswick.
The Titan (4-17-0-1) are losers of five straight games and have won just once in their last ten games. They're coming off a 3-0 defeat to the Rimouski Oceanic just last night in Rimouski.
Cole Rafuse, Logan Chisholm, and Summerside, PEI native Noah Dobson are collectively tied for the team lead with 12 points. Chisholm, however, is sidelined with an injury for four-to-six weeks. Forward Seva Losev will make his home debut for the Titan. The former Ottawa 67's forward signed with the Titan this past week.
