Charlottetown Islanders News Release
Pierre-Olivier Joseph seems to be enjoying the month of November.
The Arizona Coyotes top prospect posted his second four-point game of the month as he and the Charlottetown Islanders continued their dominance over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, defeating their Maritime Division rival by a score of 8-3.
The scoring got underway early for the Islanders. Hunter Drew would corral a Derek Gentile pass at the point and put a high wrist shot on net. Zachary Beauregard would get a stick on the puck and deflect it past Titan starting goaltender Tyriq Outen, making the score 1-0 Charlottetown just 2:26 in to the first period. For Beauregard, the goal gives him four on the season.
Joseph would get on the board soon after with his sixth goal of the season. Rookie Xavier Fortin would find his captain down low and Joseph would make no mistake, making a nice play to beat Outen and extend the lead to 2-0.
Joseph's second goal of the game would come early in the second period. As the Islanders entered the Titan zone on a 3-on-2 rush, Will Sirman would find the pinching Joseph with a cross-ice pass. Joseph would make no mistake, tipping the puck just above Outen's outstretched glove to make it 3-0 Isles.
Brett Budgell would get in on the action not long afterwards, gathering a loose puck in the slot and wiring it top-shelf on the Titan netminder. For Budgell, that goal was his ninth of the season.
Nikita Alexandrov would extend the lead before the end of the period with his twelfth of the season on the powerplay. The Islanders would head in to the second intermission with a 5-0 lead and a 23-9 lead in shots.
The Titan refused to roll over as the third period opened up. Daniil Vertiy would score his second goal of the season midway through the third to make the score 5-1; however, Keith Getson would answer for the Isles, walking in to the high slot and putting a wrister past Outen for his eighth goal of the season.
The ever-resilient Titan would keep the pressure on, putting two more goals past Isles starter Matthew Welsh thanks to goals from Noah Dobson and Marc-Andre LeCouffe.
Unfortunately for the Titan, that's as close as they would come. Budgell and Getson would each add their second goals of the game within 40 seconds of each other late in the third, sealing the deal for the visiting team.
Joseph continues a torrid streak through the month of November, now with 12 points in 6 games this month. For Budgell, his two goals would give him 7 goals in four games, including three-straight multi-goal games. Alexandrov and Derek Gentile would each finish the game with three points.
For the Titan, forward Seva Losev would draw an assist on the Vertiy goal, giving him his first career QMJHL point.
The Islanders are back in action on Tuesday, heading to Halifax to take on the Mooseheads in their first matchup at the Scotiabank Centre this season. The Isles' next home game is on Saturday, November 24th, when the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles come to town.
