
Islanders Recall Defenseman Scott Mayfield

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The New York Islanders announced today defenseman Scott Mayfield has been recalled from the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, on an emergency basis.
Mayfield has played 12 games with the Sound Tigers this season, recording two points (one goal, one assist), 16 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating. He scored his only goal last Saturday in Bridgeport's 4-3 shootout victory against the Hershey Bears.
A native of St. Louis, MO, Mayfield made six appearances with the Islanders last season, notching his first NHL goal on April 9, 2016 against the Buffalo Sabres. He signed a two-year NHL contract with New York on July 13, 2016. Overall, the 24-year-old has played 11 games with the Islanders and 212 AHL contests with the Sound Tigers. He has recorded 46 points (10 goals, 36 assists) and 400 penalty minutes with Bridgeport.
The 6'5, 218-pound defenseman was originally selected by the Islanders in the second round (34th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
