Charlottetown Islanders News Release
Charlottetown - The Eastlink Centre will be turning pink this weekend for the Charlottetown Islanders' annual "Pink the Rink" night.
This year's event is taking place Saturday, Oct. 10 as the Victoriaville Tigres come to town to face the Islanders for the second time in as many weeks.
The Islanders will be wearing special edition pink jerseys for the game, which some lucky fans will be able to take home after the game in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Raffle tickets for the game-worn jerseys will be sold in the lobby of the Eastlink Centre during both of the Islanders' games that weekend. Tickets will be sold for $5 each, or three for $10. There will also be a silent auction at the games for the pink jerseys of Mason McDonald, Daniel Sprong, Filip Chlapik, Quinn O'Brien, Filip Rydstrom, and Alexandre Goulet.
The raffle will be drawn after the second intermission and the players will present the jerseys off their backs at the end of the game.
Fans are encouraged to join the Islanders in dressing up in pink for the game to show their support.
Also the Islanders are inviting all breast cancer survivors to the game free of charge. To receive a complimentary ticket, survivors can book in advance by calling the Eastlink Centre box office at 902-629-6625 or by visiting the box office Monday to Friday 11:00am - 5:00pm or Saturday from noon until game time.
"Pink the Rink night is a fantastic opportunity for us and our fans to support a great cause," said Islanders President of Operations Craig Foster. "Fans can donate by purchasing a raffle ticket, and also get the chance to win one of our pink jerseys. It's a win-win".
Tickets for the games this weekend are available in person at the Eastlink Centre box office, by phone at (902) 629-6625, or online at eastlinkcentrepei.ca.
