Charlottetown Islanders News Release

Their seven-game winning streak may have come to an end, but there's no better time for the Charlottetown Islanders to start a new winning streak than tonight when they take on the Victoriaville Tigres.

The Islanders are coming off of a 6-3 loss last night to the Drummondville Voltigeurs, snapping a seven-game winning streak in the process. They now find themselves sixth overall in the QMJHL with 21 points on the season.

Like the Isles, the Tigres are also in the midst of a 3-in-3 weekend series. They're coming off of a 5-4 shootout victory over the Quebec Remparts. Earmarked early in the season to be one of the teams battling for the final playoff spot, the Tigres have surprised so far and worked their way in to a three-way tie for 11th in the league with 17 points.

The Tigres are carried by overage forward Simon Lafrance. The 5'9 centre is one of the many players tied for second in the QMJHL in goals with 11. He has 16 points in 16 games this season. He's followed closely behind by a trio of rookies: Russian forward Mikhail Abramov and Egor Serdyuk, along with 2017 2nd round pick Sean Larochelle, each have 13 points in 16 games so far this season.

After a two-point performance last night against Drummondville, Daniel Hardie also finds himself amongst the pack of players across the Q with 11 goals this season. His 21 points move him in to a four-way tie for 15th overall in the QMJHL. He remains arguably the hottest player in the league with 17 points in his last eight games.

On defense, captain Pierre-Olivier Joseph turned in one of his best performances of the season last night in front of friends and family, scoring two goals and adding an assist. He now has 10 points in 14 games this season, and will look to keep the momentum going in to tonight's game.
