HAUGHIAN SNATCHES SECOND WIN:

Left-hander Nick Haughian improved to 2-2 with a 3-2 win over Mahoning Valley on Tuesday. The Marysville, WA native allowed a run on five hits with three strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Haughian was won two out of his last three starts.

BRANDHORST NOTCHES THIRD SAVE:

James Brandhorst earned a team-leading third save of the year after a scoreless two innings. The 2.0 innings pitched was a career high for the right-hander, who retired one batter by strikeout.

HITTING NUGGETS:

Richard D'Oleo extended his hit streak to 7 games with a single on Tuesday. Ty Kelly is hitting over .447 (17x38) in his last five games with a 2-for-3 performance with a walk and strikeout. Veteran T.J. Baxter also recorded a multi-hit game in the leadoff spot after a 2-for-4 evening.

VS. MAHONING VALLEY:

The IronBirds are 8-15 (.348) against the Scrappers in the franchise's eight year history. Aberdeen won their first series against Mahoning Valley last season in Niles, Ohio. Tuesday's win gave the IronBirds their second consecutive series win and their fifth consecutive win. The Birds went 12-6 against opponents in the Pinckney Division last season. The franchise is 53-51 against Pinckney foes.

‘BIRDS FIND STRIDE:

The IronBirds used 11 hits on way to a 9-2 victory over the Scrappers on Monday. Richard D'Oleo went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI and a walk. Ty Kelly and Justin Dalles also combined for two hits each in the victory.

GIVE ME MORELAND:

Kenny Moreland improved to 4-1 on the year after a slow start. Moreland gave up two early runs, but finished strong, fanning six in the victory. Moreland's ERA is now 0.95, which is second best in the NYPL.

BATS FALL SILENT:

The ‘Birds mustered only five hits in Sunday's 1-0 loss to Vermont. The loss was the first series loss to Vermont at Ripken Stadium.
