Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
VERSUS TRI-CITY:
This will be the second time in 2009 the IronBirds and Tri-City face off. The âBirds took two of three from the Valley Cats back on August 30th through September 1st. The âBirds lost game TWO of the series last night 4-3.
DALLES HITS IT OFF AGAIN
Justin Dalles led the way for the IronBirds offensively for the second straight game, going 1-4 with two RBIs.
FRABIZIO HIT HARD IN FIRST STINT:
RHP Vito Frabizio, making his first start at the class A level gave up six runs on seven hits, he walked one and struck out none in his three innings of work.
âBIRDS FINISH UP AT HOME:
After finishing 3-4 on their last road trip of the year, the âBirds are home for their last three games of the year vs. Tri-City. The âBirds are 2-13 in their last 15 games and look to finish 2009 on a winning note.
ROSTER MOVES SHAKE-UP ABERDEEN CLUBHOUSE:
LHP Nick Haughian, LHP Stephen Procner, LHP Jake Smith, IF Levi Carolus, and OF Brian Conley have all been promoted to Delmarva. RHP Patrick Kantakevich was promoted to Fredrick. Joining the âBirds is LHP Justin Anderson, LHP Tony Butler, RHP Thomas Phelps, and RHP David Walters.
âBIRDS AMPING UP THE POWER:
Tyler Townsend went deep for the third time this year against SI on 9/3 and Steve Bumbry hit a solo shot to lead off the game for the âBirds on 9/1 against Tri-City. Outfielder Brian Conley joined the home run parade on Aug. 25th with his first of the season, and for the first time all year Aberdeen hit homeruns in consecutive games. Garabez Rosa hit his team leading sixth homerun of the season on August 24th vs. Lowell. On August 21st Tyler Townsend, after going hitless for two games, drove a home run over the right field wall for his second of the season.
