July 26, 2005 - The IronBirds (12-22) dropped their fourth game on the current homestand as they fell 6-3 to Oneonta (20-12) on Tuesday night. Another 9th inning rally came up just short for the âBirds, as pinch hitter Nolan Reimold just missed hitting a game tying grand slam with 1-out in the 9th and Jason Maxey followed with a game ending ground out.
Aberdeen jumped out to a 1st inning 2-0 lead on the strength of a Zo Scott single, Bobby Andrews RBI double and Ryan Finan RBI ground out to short. The latter hitters led the way for Aberdeen with 2 hits on the night.
Brad Bergesen came out of the chute with some good stuff, but it quickly disappeared, as Oneonta crushed two homers in the 2nd and another in the 3rd to take a 4-2 lead after two. Two more runs in the top of the 4th doubled the deficit for Aberdeen, who found themselves down 6-2 until their comeback came up just short in the 9th.
Kyle Boehm and Bryan Dumesnil combined for 5 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing a total of two runners between them. Bergesen fell to 0-3 on the year with the loss.
The âBirds look to avoid the sweep tomorrow night as Moises Hernandez gets the ball before the team takes off for a 6-game road trip starting Thursday in New Jersey
