WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - The Aberdeen IronBirds used a five-run fourth inning to down the Hudson Valley Renegades 7-0 on Tuesday evening at Heritage Financial Park.

Joel Valdez retired the IronBirds in order in the first and worked around a pair of baserunners in the second, but the IronBirds struck for two runs in the third off the left-hander. The first two batters reached on a walk and a single to bring up Jackson Holliday, who hit a towering popup in shallow centerfield that fell to score Luis Valdez. The next batter, Jud Fabian, doubled home Max Wagner to give Aberdeen a 2-0 lead over Hudson Valley.

Wagner plated another IronBirds run in the fourth on an RBI single to extend the advantage to 3-0. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Jud Fabian tugged a fly ball down the left field that just stayed fair for a grand slam and Aberdeen bolted ahead 7-0. Valdez (1-3) was tagged for seven earned runs in 3.2 innings while also striking out five.

On the other side, Alex Pham (2-1) allowed just one hit in five shutout frames. Jake Lyons followed and hurled the final four innings to complete the shutout for Aberdeen and picked up a save. It's the second time the Renegades have been shut out this season by Aberdeen, third overall.

Hudson Valley received strong pitching from their bullpen led by Bailey Dees, who struck out four in 2.1 scoreless frames. Ryan Anderson followed and punched out four batters across two scoreless innings, while Nick Paciorek finished off the game with a scoreless ninth.

Hudson Valley and Aberdeen will continue their six-game series on Wednesday morning. First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. with coverage on the Renegades Baseball Network beginning at 10:45 a.m. The Renegades will send RHP Tyrone Yulie (1-2, 6.00) to the hill opposite of RHP Cooper Chandler (1-3, 3.58) for the IronBirds.
