Irene Forces Pittsfield Colonials Games to be Rescheduled

PITTSFIELD, MA - Due to the impending threat of Hurricane Irene on the eastern seaboard and New England over the next couple of days, the Pittsfield Colonials have rescheduled Sunday's game with the Newark Bears.

Pittsfield will now play a doubleheader against Newark on Friday night at 6 p.m. Saturday's regularly scheduled game at 7 p.m. against the Bears is still on as planned. There will be no game on Sunday.

In accordance with the Colonials rain out policy, fans holding tickets specifically dated for Sunday, August 28 can use those tickets for either Friday or Saturday's games against Newark, as well as the games on either September 2 or 3 against the New York Federals.

Pittsfield is currently in fourth place in the Can-Am League overall standings, holding down the final playoff spot with 10 games remaining on the schedule. The Colonials are a game behind the Brockton Rox for the #3 seed and are scheduled to play the Rox in Brockton August 30, 31 and September 1.

Pittsfield has one game remaining in their series against the Worcester Tornadoes tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m. from Historic Wahconah Park with T. J. Wink (4-1, 2.79) on the mound for the Colonials against Worcester ace Zach Zuercher (12-4, 3.62). Coverage on 89.7 WTBR FM begins with the pregame show at 6:40 p.m.
