
Iowa Wolves Drop First Regular Season Game

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Iowa Wolves dropped its first NBA G League regular season game on Tuesday night as the Agua Caliente Clippers remained undefeated with a 113-92 victory over Iowa at Toyota Arena.
Iowa (4-1) led by six points minutes in to the second quarter but scored just four points the rest of the quarter. Agua Caliente (4-0) seized control of the game with a 16-4 closing run to the half for a 47-33 lead at the break.
Brandon Sampson led the Wolves with 17 points off the bench while Vincent Edwards had 16 points. Isaiah Briscoe and Malik Benlevi were the others in double figures with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
In the opening quarter, Edwards and Sampson each shot lights out, scoring nine and seven points, respectively, to propel Iowa to a 20-18 lead.
The Wolves stretched their lead to 31-25 in the second period after Matt Lewis' three-pointer at the 7:30 mark. However, momentum swung to Agua Caliente as it held Iowa scoreless for nearly six minutes.
The Wolves got as close as 10 after halftime but could never get the necessary stops and run as the Clippers led by as many as 26 points. Tuesday was the first of three games between the teams in the next three weeks. Iowa travels back to California on Jan. 27 for the rematch. Agua Caliente visits Des Moines on Feb. 5.
The Wolves returns to Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday, Jan. 23 to host the Texas Legends at 4 p.m. CT in the first meeting of a two-game home series against the Legends.
