Iowa welcomes the Sioux Falls Storm to Wells Fargo Arena

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers (4-7) are back at home and set to take on the Sioux Falls Storm (11-1). The game is set to kickoff is set for Friday May 27, 2016 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Fans will be able to tune in to the game by watching live on IFLLive.tv, listening on WHO Radio 1040 or watching locally on Mediacom MC22.

The Barnstormers fell short in their comeback attempt last Saturday night as they faced off against the Cedar Rapids Titans (9-4). The Barnstormers' second half comeback was led by quarterback Brion Carnes. After throwing for just one score and 46 yards in the first half Carnes broke out in the second half for 126 yards and three scores. Amidst the comeback Carnes put together three scoring drives in the span of five minutes to lower the deficit from 46-15 to 46-33. The Barnstormers' defense also stepped up in the second half allowing just 10 points. The defense was led by the returning of All-IFL linebacker Javicz Jones. Jones returned and was immediately impactful leading the team with 11 tackles including two tackles for loss. The Barnstormers however, fell just short in the first of three matchups with Cedar Rapids, 46-33.

The Sioux Falls Storm (11-1) continued their winning ways in Week 14 taking down the Green Bay Blizzard (3-9) in Sioux Falls. The Storm were once again led on offense by quarterback Lorenzo Brown. Brown accounted for five of the eight touchdowns scored by the Storm while raking up 255 yards of total offense including 163 passing and 92 rushing yards. The Storm defense was dominant allowing just 180 yards of offense led by defensive lineman Brandon Peguese. Peguese recorded six total tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss (2 sacks).

Friday's matchup between the Storm and the Barnstormers will showcase two of the top linebackers in the IFL. Iowa Barnstormers linebacker Javicz Jones returned to the team last week after spending time in the CFL this season and led the team in tackles (11). Last season Jones was awarded first team All-IFL linebacker after recording 122 tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss including 3 sacks. For the Storm linebacker Tyler Knight will set the pace for the defense. Knight currently leads the Storm with 122 tackles while averaging 10.5 tackles per game.

The Barnstormers' playoff hopes are still alive currently three games back of the Wichita Falls Nighthawks with a head to head with Wichita Falls coming up in two weeks. The path is tough for the Barnstormers with two matchups remaining with Cedar Rapids (9-4) and a bout with reigning champion Sioux Falls Storm (11-1) on their home turf.
