Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES -The Iowa Barnstormers (4-9) are on the road this week and set to take on the Sioux Falls Storm (13-1). The game is set to kickoff on Saturday June 11, 2016 at Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Fans will be able to tune in to the game by watching live on IFLLive.tv or listening on WHO Radio 1040.

The Barnstormers fell short in their second attempt to claim the Iowa Bowl last Saturday night as they took on the Cedar Rapids Titans (10-4). Offense was tough to come by as both teams were held below their season average in yards and points per game. Despite the tough defense, Barnstormers' receiver Brady Roland was able to put up his most productive game of the season recording 130 receiving yards on 9 receptions with his lone touchdown coming on a 45 yard bomb from quarterback Travis Partridge. Barnstormers' defensive back Derrick Morgan followed up a defensive player of the week performance with another stellar outing recording six tackles and grabbing his third interceptions in two weeks. Even with these performances the Barnstormers came up short falling to the Titans at home, 46-23.

The Sioux Falls Storm (13-1) on the other hand, notched their ninth straight victory last week defeating the Colorado Crush, 72-59. The Storm continue to lean on their rushing attack headlined by receiver Korey Williams and quarterback Lorenzo Brown. The Storm racked up a total of 182 rushing yards with Williams leading the way with 107 yards and Brown recording 62 of his own. Brown was a force in the passing game as well completing 10 of 12 passes for 141 yards and four touchdowns. Linebacker Tyler Knight continues to power the Storm defense this time recording 9.5 tackles including a sack.

The Storm and the Barnstormers met up just two weeks ago and played one of the most exciting games of the IFL season as the Storm defeated the Barnstormers in overtime, 50-49. The Storm took a 28-19 lead into halftime and the Barnstormers defense responded allowing just 15 second half points to the Storm. Meanwhile, the Barnstormers' offense racked up 24 second half points to tie the game at 43 and force an overtime. Sioux Falls wasted no time scoring on their overtime possession with quarterback Lorenzo Brown scrambling into the end zone from 12 yards out, 50-43. The Barnstormers found the end zone in an iconic moment as receiver Bryan Pray hauled in his 100th career receiving touchdown making it 50-49. Down just one point the Barnstormers elected to go for two and take the victory and saw their victory slip away as the pass was deflected of bounds and the Barnstormers fell at home, 50-49.

There is still time to order single game or partial season tickets. Fans can order tickets by calling the Barnstormers at 515-633-2255 or by stopping by the Wells Fargo Arena Box Office. Tickets are also available online at www.theiowabarnstormers.com.
