Iowa Races Past Sioux Falls in Regular Season Opener

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Iowa Wolves started the NBA G League regular season with a 106-94 win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Thursday night at the Stanford Pentagon.

Iowa (1-0) had five players finish in double figures, led by two-way guard McKinley Wright's team-high 21 points to go with 10 assists. It is Wright's first professional double-double and he added four rebounds and three assists. Forward Brian Bowen recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Tarkus Ferguson scored a game-high 23 points off the bench for Sioux Falls (0-1), the G League affiliate of the Miami Heat.

The Skyforce and Wolves traded baskets at the start of the game before Bowen's driving layup nearly four minutes in gave Iowa the lead for good. The Wolves would later lead by as many as 25 points in the team's first game since Dec. 21 after the start of the regular season was delayed. Sioux Falls chipped away but Iowa never led the Skyforce get closer than nine points.

Guard Isaiah Briscoe scored 17 points off the bench in his first action since missing the past three games due to injury. Forward Vincent Edwards and guard Matt Lewis each had 13 points while guard Isaiah Miller tallied 10 points off the bench. The Wolves shot 51.3 percent (40-of-78) from the floor, recorded 20 assists and won the rebounding battle, 48-40.

Iowa stays on the road going to Birmingham, Ala. Saturday, Jan. 8 to take on new G League member, the Birmingham Squadron. Tipoff with the New Orleans Pelicans' affiliate is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed on NBAGLeague.com.
