DES MOINES, IA - The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy got a career high 28 points from forward Michael Tveidt as they rolled past Reno 101-97 Saturday night. The win moves Iowa into 1st place in the league's Eastern Conference, one game ahead of Springfield.

The Energy jumped out quick as they led 39-25 midway through the 2nd quarter behind Tveidt's 16 early points. Iowa maintained that lead late into the half as a Jake Anderson layup put the Energy up 43-29 with 3:12 left. Just as the Energy seemed to have control, Reno battled back, scoring the next 12 points of the game to close the gap to 43-41. The two teams exchanged scores late in the half, with Iowa taking a 45-43 lead into the break.

The 3rd quarter saw back and forth scoring as the lead changed hands three times in the early going before a Chris Davis 3-pointer put Reno up 64-60 with 5:01 remaining. A quick 9-0 run by the Energy, which featured four different scorers, gave control back to the home team, who took a 73-66 lead into the final quarter.

On four separate occasions in the 4th quarter, Reno closed the Energy lead to one point; and each time, Iowa responded with baskets of their own. Late in the 4th quarter, a Terrance Thomas layup with 2:11 left brought Reno to within two points at 89-91. With the game in the balance, Iowa's Thomas Baudinet rose up and drilled a 3-pointer from the left wing to give the Energy a five point lead. Reno got to within one point on an Andre Emmett 3-point play with 8.0 seconds left, but Anderson drilled two free throws to extend the lead back to three. After an Energy stop on defense, Baudinet iced the game with a free throw to provide the final margin.

Baudinet added 19 points on the night, while reserve center Ben Strong had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Anderson, making his first start for injured guard Brandon Ewing, finished with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists.

The win moves Iowa to 7-3 on the season.

Reno was led by Thomas' 26 point night, while Chris Ayer contributed 19 points and 13 rebounds. The loss drops Reno to 3-5.

The Energy shot 53.3% from the field on the night, while holding the BigHorns to 42.2%.

Iowa heads to Maine for a pair of games next week before returning home on Tuesday, December 27th for a home game with Sioux Falls. That game is a "Two-for One Tuesday" as all sideline tickets will be two for the price of one!
