Iowa Cubs Get Roster Overhaul

Memphis, TN - The Chicago Cubs have made a series of moves affecting the Iowa Cubs roster. Yesterday, the Cubs traded INF Brent Lillibridge to the New York Yankees and LHP Hisanori Takahashi to the Colorado Rockies in separate deals. OF Brett Jackson was placed on the disabled list with a right calf strain. IF Ian Stewart has been reinstated from the suspended list and OF Jae-Hoon Ha has joined Iowa from double-A Tennessee.

Lillibridge batted .285 (45-for-160) with eight doubles, five home runs, and 13 RBI in 48 games with Iowa after starting the season with Chicago. Takahashi also began the season with the big club and was 1-0 with a 1.98 ERA (6ER/27.1IP) in 20 relief appearances for Iowa. Takahashi hadn't allowed an earned run since May 22, spanning 15.1 innings over his last 10 appearances with Iowa.

Jackson is batting .223 (48-for-215) with seven doubles, three homers, and 23 RBI in 61 games with Iowa this year. He had an earlier stint on the DL with turf toe.

Stewart was suspended 10 games by the organization for comments made on social media. His last game with Iowa was June 11 at Oklahoma City. He is batting .168 (19-for-113) with six doubles, five home runs, and 20 RBI in 40 games with the I-Cubs.

Ha joins was batting .284 (27-for-95) with a homer, 14 RBI, and eight stolen bases in 28 games with the Smokies. He had a stint on the disabled list from May 7-June 19 with a lower back strain. The Cubs signed Ha on September 19, 2008 as a 17-year-old out of his native South Korea. Last year, he hit .273 (127-for-465) with 28 doubles, six homers, and 47 RBI in 121 games for Tennessee and played in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game in Kansas City. He was 2-for-2 with a homer in that game.

During last night's game, C Steve Clevenger experienced some general tightness in his oblique area. His rehab assignment has ended. He will take a few days and be re-evaluated by the Cubs' medical staff. He hit .327 (17-for-52) with five doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBI in 15 games on assignment with Iowa.

The Cubs open a four-game series in Memphis tonight at 6:05. LH Chris Rusin (6-6, 3.06) will start for the Cubs against RH Scott McGregor (1-4, 7.82) for the Redbirds. The game will be broadcast live on AM 940 and streamed live on iowacubs.com with the pre-game show starting at 6:45.
