LHP Martin Perez Recalled by Rangers

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced today that LHP Martin Perez has been recalled and is slated to start tonight's game in St. Louis. They also announced LHP Joseph Ortiz has been optioned to Round Rock.

Perez is 5-1 with a 1.75 ERA (36.0ip/7er) in six starts with the Express this season. He's won his last five starts and had five consecutive quality starts. The southpaw has allowed just one run (unearned) over his last two outings (12.0ip). This will be Perez's second start for the Rangers this season. His first start was back on May 27 at Arizona in game one of a split doubleheader. He threw 5.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits in the loss.

This will be Ortiz's second stint with the Express this year. He went 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA (7.2ip/2er) in four appearances for Round Rock earlier this season. With the Rangers, he's compiled a 2-1 record with a 5.08 ERA over 22 games in two stints with the Rangers. He was recalled by Texas on June 18 after being optioned to Round Rock on June 8.

With these moves, the Express' roster sits at 25 active players, the Pacific Coast League limit.
