Iowa Barnstormers at Wichita Falls Nighthawks Game Preview

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers (2-0) hit the road to take on the Wichita Falls Nighthawks (1-1) on March 11. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT at Kay Yeager Stadium in Wichita Falls, Texas. This is the first stop on Iowa's four week three game stretch away from home. Fans will be able to tune in to the game by watching live on IFLLive.tv or listening on WHO Radio.

Iowa is coming off a bye week after two straight wins. The Barnstormers opened their 2016 home schedule defeating Green Bay 73-21 on February 26. Iowa jumped out to a 28-9 in the first quarter with scores coming from four different players. Quarterback Donovan Porterie had another strong outing completing 12-17 attempts for 165 yards and four touchdowns. The Barnstormers defense was relentless in large part to defensive back Tony Grimes. Grimes led the Barnstormers with 13 total tackles also recording an interceptions fueling the Barnstormers' defense.

Wichita Falls (1-1) was on the road at Colorado last week (0-3). The Nighthawks emerged victorious 65-45. Quarterback Charles McCullum is lighting up IFL stat books completing 22 of 34 passes for 244 yards and six touchdowns. This coming a week after he completed 33 of 43 for 292 yards and 5 touchdowns. Linebacker Josh Francis led the way for Wichita Falls' defense recording 4 tackles including 1.5 sacks.

The matchup between Iowa and Wichita Falls features two of the best quarterbacks in the IFL. Iowa's Porterie ranks second in the League in yards per game (178.0), and ranks first in the League amongst quarterbacks in yards per attempt (8.3), Porterie has also thrown for seven touchdowns with no interceptions. Wichita Falls' McCullum leads the League in passing yards per game (268.0), and tied for first in completion percentage (71.4%).

The Barnstormers and the Nighthawks have matched up only one time in the past. Last season the Barnstormers outlasted the Nighthawks 29-25 on May 30 of 2015. This is the first of two meetings for Iowa and Wichita Falls as the teams meet up on June 18 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Barnstormers have a bye week next week and then are on the road until returning the Wells Fargo Arena on April 9 to face the Nebraska Danger (2-0).
