Iowa Acquires Melvin Frazier Jr. from Oklahoma City

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Wolves, NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, today acquired guard/forward Melvin Frazier Jr. from the Oklahoma City Blue in exchange for forward Robert Woodward II. In addition, the Blue reacquired their first-round pick in the 2022 NBA G League Draft that had previously been traded to Iowa while the Wolves received Oklahoma City's second-round pick in the 2022 draft.

During the 2021-22 G League season, Frazier Jr. has appeared in 18 regular season games for the Oklahoma City Blue, averaging 13.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Prior to playing for the Blue, Frazier Jr. played in 41 career games for the Lakeland Magic with averages of 15.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 33.9 minutes per game. The Tulane University product saw NBA action in 29 games for the Orlando Magic, playing in 10 games during the 2018-19 season and 19 games during the 2019-20 season. His best NBA game came on Aug. 13, 2020 vs. the New Orleans Pelicans when he scored 10 points, shooting 4-of-8 from the field and added three rebounds, two assists and one steal. The New Orleans native was selected 35th overall in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic.

Woodward II was claimed by Iowa from the available player pool on Feb. 19. Prior to his time with the Wolves, he appeared in three regular season games for the Stockton Kings and averaged 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Iowa hosts Salt Lake City on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. CT at Wells Fargo Arena.
