Ionescu Drops 33 in Liberty's 80-93 Loss to Wings

BRADENTON, FLA. - The two youngest teams in the WNBA matched up Wednesday night and the New York Liberty fell to the Dallas Wings 80-93.

The Liberty's first-ever No.1 overall Draft pick Sabrina Ionescu carried New York scoring 33 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, one point shy of the best single-game rookie performance in Liberty history. Kia Nurse holds the record for her 34-point performance against Indiana on June 2, 2018.

New York looks to bounce back and get its first win of the season on Friday, July 31 when the team takes on the Atlanta Dream. Tip-off is slated for 7 PM ET.

* Amanda Zahui B was one point shy of a double-double, finishing with nine points and 11 rebounds on the night.

* Jazmine Jones and Megan Walker both made their professional debuts tonight, finishing with eight and two points, respectively.

* Turnovers plagued the Liberty as the team finished with 18 costing them 22 points in the contest. Last season, New York averaged 15 turnovers against Dallas. In the team's only 2019 victory over the Wings, they committed only 8 turnovers.

* New York improved their three-point shooting against Dallas, finishing 36.0% (9-25) from beyond the perimeter.
