Intimidators Drop Sixth Straight 8-5 To West Virginia

Kannapolis, NC ? The Intimidators received solo home runs from Christian Marrero and Sergio Morales but Kannapolis fell the for the sixth straight time 8-5 to West Virginia at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.

The Intimidators comeback bid fell short in the ninth by plating two unearned runs to make it 8-5. Kannapolis dropped the first game of the three-game set with West Virginia in the first meeting of the two teams this year.

Logan Johnson led way offensively with a pair of base hits. Jim Gallagher picked up a hit for the 10th time in 11 games with a double in the second inning (1-for-3 with a RBI). Dale Mollenhauer?s nine-game hit streak was snapped with a 0-for-4 night.

Kannapolis did received three pitchers back from the disabled list today. Jason Rice started and took the loss with three innings giving up four runs. Charlie Shirek came on in relief and threw 2.0 innings giving up three runs (two earned) and Leroy Hunt worked a scoreless ninth inning while striking out one in his return from injury.
