Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Kannapolis, NC - An hour, 26 minute rain delay didn't derail strong pitching efforts from both the Intimidators and Greensboro Grasshoppers in a 1-0 loss for Kannapolis at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
The delay occurred before the start of the game but didn't seem to effect RHP Jason Rice. The Intimidators starter struck out 11 over five innings only yielding a run in the first inning. The right-hander was handed the tough luck loss.
Rice was matched by Cristhian Martinez for Greensboro as he tossed six shutout innings for his second win of the season.
Kannapolis left two runners aboard in the fourth inning. The Intimidators also left a runner on in each the seventh, eighth and ninth.
The Intimidators were led offensively by Jose Martinez. The outfielder went 3-for-4 and was stranded at third base in the ninth inning.
The same two teams wrap up a quick two-game set at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium tomorrow night. RHP Anthony Carter (3-0, 1.50) goes for Kannapolis against RHP Jeremiah Haar (0-2, 4.61) for Greensboro.
