Captains Win Fourth Straight, 14-7

(Eastlake, OH) - An eight run offensive explosion in the fifth inning powered the Lake Captains to a 14-7 rout of the Hagerstown Suns on Saturday. The hit parade was led by Dustin Realini who had four hits, three RBI's including two HR's. Lucas Montero had three hits and a team season high four RBI's. This was the biggest offensive output by the Captains this year, fourteen runs and seventeen hits.

The Captains opened the scoring in their half of the first inning. Adam White doubled and went to third on Lucas Montero's single. Montero stole second. Karexon Sanchez hit a sacrifice fly to score White with Montero taking third. Montero scored on a Jeff Hehr sacrifice fly. Matt Brown followed with his second home run of the year and the Captains led 3-0. The Suns tied it up in the top of the second. Michael Burgess led off the inning with a home run. With a runner aboard, Steven Souza hit a two run home run and the game was tied at three. The tie was short lived as the Captains went on top 4-3 when Dustin Realini led off the bottom of the second inning with his first homer of the year.

The Captains scored eight runs in the fifth inning highlighted by Montero's bases loaded double and Brown's two run single to make it 12-4. They added two more in the seventh on Realini's second home run and Montero's fourth RBI to make the lead 14-4. The Suns picked up three unearned runs in the ninth off of reliever Jonathan Holt. Captains starter Santo Frias did not factor in the decision giving up four runs in 4.2 innings. Gary Campfield pitched 2.1 scoreless innings following Frias to pick up his first win of 2008.

The Captains and the Hagerstown Suns conclude the weekend series on Sunday at 1:00 PM. LHP Kelvin De La Cruz (1-1, 3.68) gets the start for the Captains against the Suns RHP Jeff Mandel (0-1, 7.20). The game can also be heard on AM 1330 WELW, WELW.COM or CAPTAINSBASEBALL.COM.

Sunday marks the return of the Plevin & Gallucci Family Fun Day. All fans can enjoy a pre-game autograph session with Captains players, and concourse entertainment such as a balloon artist and a magician.
