
Intimidators claim first place from Crawdads

Kannapolis, NC- The Intimidators (17-10, 51-45) took first place overtaking the Crawdads 8-3 Thursday night at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory.
Leo Daigle's first inning RBI double scoring Ricardo Nanita gave the Intimidators the early lead at 1-0. Hickory's Brad Rea didn't let the lead stand too long with a lead off home run in the second inning.
In the third inning, the Crawdads broke the tie with Rea's two run single off Ryan Rodriguez (9-6) scoring Mike McCuistion and Nyjer Morgan. The Intimidators starter left the game after six innings allowing three runs on six hits.
A big fifth run, fifth inning propelled the Intimidators back into the lead. Charlie Lisk led off the scoring with a two run shot over the left field wall, his eighth of the year. Antoin Gray followed with a solo shot, his eighth home run as well. Ricardo Nanita and Micah Schnurstein contributed with RBI singles.
Leo Daigle put it away with a two run homer in the seventh giving Kannapolis an 8-3 lead. The three home runs for the Intimidators tied a franchise record of 92 home runs in a season with the 2000 Piedmont Boll Weevils.
Leo Nunez (6-3) was saddled with the loss allowing six runs, all earned, on nine hits in four and two-third innings. Fabio Castro tossed three scoreless innings notching his third save for Kannapolis.
The Intimidators and Crawdads (16-11, 55-41) complete the two game series in Hickory Friday night at 6:05pm. The team returns to Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium on July 27th vs. Hagerstown at 7:05pm. For more information, or to order tickets contact the Intimidators at 704-932-3267.
