Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino got a one out sac fly off the bat of Bernabe Camargo in the bottom of the tenth inning to down the Lake Elsinore Storm 2-1 and take a three-game series at San Manuel Stadium two-games-to-one. The 66ers moved to 3-7 in extra inning affairs while the Storm fell to 5-5 beyond the ninth.

Inland Empire (61-59, 28-22) and Lake Elsinore (58-61, 24-26) were scoreless into the third inning when René Rivera got the 66ers on the board with a solo homer and a 1-0 advantage. The homer by Rivera, on injury rehab assignment from the Angels, snapped a stretch of six consecutive batters retired via strikeout by RHP Bryan Mitchell. The righty was also on an MLB rehab assignment from the Padres and allowed just the one run while fanning eight in five frames. Inland Empire led until the sixth when with two outs the Storm finally broke through against IE starter Simon Mathews when Brad Zunica smashed a solo shot to center to tie the game. Zunica now has 16 homers on the season, six against Inland Empire. Mathews went six innings and allowed just the one run in a no-decision. The game remained tied until the tenth when Richie Fecteau's sac bunt moved Jonah Todd to third base against Storm reliever Travis Radke (0-1). Camargo then lifted a fly ball to right field and Todd walked home with the winning run. Dayan Diaz (1-0) tossed two hitless innings to earn the win for the Sixers.

The series concludes Sunday at 5:35 pm. The contest can be heard live on 66ers.com.
