Coming out of the All-Star break, the 66ers (31-40, 0-1) dropped their first game of the second half to the High Desert Mavericks (38-33, 1-0) 6-0 as the Inland Empire's offense was stymied by the pitching of High Desert. 66ers left fielder Drew Heid went 2-for-4 with two doubles in his return to the 66ers. This is the 66ers sixth consecutive loss going back before the All-Star break.
Mavericks starter Roenis Elias and reliever Angel Raga pitched a combined five innings and allowing only two hits to a re-vamped 66ers lineup that featured recently promoted 3rd baseman Kaleb Cowert and a return by Heid. Cowert went 1-for-2 with a double in his California League debut. 66ers Right fielder Ryan Jones went 2-for-4 with a double. Raga was credited with the win while 66ers starter Manny Correa got the loss.
