Inferno Add Two Rookies to Roster

COLUMBIA, S.C. (August 16, 2006) - Head Coach Troy Mann announced that the Columbia Inferno have agreed to terms with defensemen Andrew Lackner and Bryce Thoma for the 2006-07 season. Lackner and Thoma join teammates Derick Martin, Dallas Flaman, Anthony Battaglia, Steve McJannet, Brad MacMillan, Corey Hessler and Chris Barr as the eighth and ninth players signed by the Inferno this year.

Lackner joins Columbia after four years with Niagara University, serving as the team captain his senior year. The 6'0", 195 lbs., Elmira, Ontario native played 145 games and had six goals, 34 assists and 87 penalty minutes during his collegiate career.

Thoma, 6'0", 190 lbs., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native comes to the Inferno after playing three seasons with the University of Saskatchewan. He appeared in 93 games, scored nine goals, 34 assists and 110 penalty minutes with the Huskies. In 2003-04, Thoma played 16 games for the Fresno Falcons scoring one goal and three assists.

"Bryce and Andrew are both solid young defensemen who will add depth to our blueline," said Coach Mann. "They are coming from great programs which should help in the transition from university to the pro ranks."
