Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder announced its promotional calendar for the 2006-2007 season today.
The Thunder will open its season at home on Saturday, October 28th at 7:30 p.m. against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. On opening night, every fan in attendance will receive a Thunder collectible 2006-2007 schedule poster.
In addition to giving away collectible items such as bobble heads, team photos, backpacks, and hats throughout the season, the team is also hosting several special community-oriented nights this year.
On Friday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 4th, the Thunder will host its first annual Thunder Goes Pink weekend. Both games and the festivities during the week prior to the games will promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds for organizations that help those affected by the disease.
Returning from last season are two popular community events, Coats for Kids and Teddy Bear Toss. This year's Coats for Kids Day is scheduled for Sunday, November 19th. Last year, fans helped the team collect over 1,000 coats for the program that provides assistance to needy families in the San Joaquin Valley. Also, the Second Annual Stockton Thunder Teddy Bear Toss is scheduled for Saturday, January 13th. Last year's inaugural toss yielded over 3,000 bears that were distributed to local children's charities by the Thunder and United Way.
New this year will be the team's Toys for Tots drive on Sunday, December 3rd. The drive is being held in conjunction with the first annual celebration of Thor, the Thunder mascot's birthday.
Also this season, every Sunday is once again Family Day at Thunder games. Families will be able to purchase four tickets, two pucks, and two hot dogs for only $34 by presenting an Alpine Meats coupon from a participating grocery store.
