Indy City Futbol Kicks off Second Season of Play

July 24, 2015 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Indy Eleven News Release

INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, July 24, 2015) - Building on the success of its inaugural season, Indy City Futbol is back for a second year in 2015. Last summer, Big Car along with Indy Eleven Professional Soccer created the inclusive, adult co-ed soccer league that pitted local Indianapolis neighborhood teams against one another for the chance to be "Champions of Indy." The successful league's second season kicked off last evening at Arsenal Tech High School, marking the first of eleven weeks of play that will wrap up with the league's championship game on Sept. 24.

Players interested in joining a neighborhood squad can still register through next Thursday, July 30, via the Indy City Futbol website at http://www.indycityfutbol.com/collections/neighborhoods. The registration fee of $60 includes 10 more games of league play, an official team t-shirt, membership to the Indiana Soccer Association and four free Brickyard Battalion section tickets to an Indy Eleven match during the club's Fall Season.

The eight-game regular season and three-week postseason schedules will be played entirely on Thursday evenings (weather permitting) at Howard Longshore Stadium at Arsenal Tech, located at 1500 E. Michigan St. (off of 10th Street near both the Monon Trail and Cultural Trail). Format of the co-ed games will be 9-v-9 on a 60-by-40 yard field.

The 12 participating teams are identified by different communities around Indianapolis, and players are encouraged to represent their neighborhood both on and off the field. Teams will be volunteering their time to service projects in their home neighborhood, with projects including park cleanups, coaching and refereeing youth soccer leagues and working in Indy's numerous public community gardens.

Visit www.indycityfutbol.com for more information on the league. If you have any questions regarding Indy City Futbol's second season, or are a potential player that doesn't live in a participating neighborhood but would like to find a team to call home, please contact Commissioner Justin Becht at indycityfutbol@gmail.com.
