
Indians Named Among IL's Best by Baseball America

INDIANAPOLIS --Tribe outfielders Alex Presley and Gorkys Hernandez were selected among the International League's best in the recently released "Best Tools" edition ofBaseball America. Presley was selected as having the "Best Strike Zone Discipline", while Hernandez was recognized by the publication as having the "Best Outfield Arm" in the league.
Presley, who rejoined the Indians on a Major League rehabilitation assignment on August 12, currently leads the International League with a .332 batting average to go along with 53 runs scored, eight home runs, 38 RBI and 19 stolen bases. Before being promoted by Pittsburgh on June 26, Presley was leading the International League with 98 hits, while also ranking second in total bases (146), tied for third in batting average and steals (18), fourth in runs (52), and fifth in on-base percentage.
The Louisiana native made an instant impact with Pittsburgh following his promotion, batting .333 to go with 12 runs, a homer and nine RBI in 20 games, before he was placed on the disabled list on July 23 due to a left hand contusion. Between those 20 contests from June 28 to July 22, Presley ranked in a tie for eighth in the National League in hits (27), while his .402 on-base percentage also placed him eighth in the NL.
Hernandez, tabbed byBaseball America as the "Best Defensive Outfielder" in the Pittsburgh system prior to this season, leads the Indians and ranks tied for ninth among all IL outfielders with eight outfield assists this year. Along with his excellent defense in the Indianapolis outfield, Hernandez has also compiled a .284 batting average and ranks second in the IL with seven triples and tied for ninth with 18 stolen bases.
Indianapolis finishes its eight-game road trip tonight against West Division rival Louisville at 7:05 p.m. The Tribe then continues their push for the playoffs with a 10-game homestand that includes key matchups against the Bats, Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Columbus Clippers beginning on Tuesday, August 16 at 7:05 p.m.
