Indianapolis Indians News Release

The Indianapolis Indians have signed a four-year extension on their player development contract (PDC) with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The new agreement will run now through the 2012 campaign. Team President Max Schumacher said, "Our relationship with the Pirates has produced strongly competitive teams the last three years. From our discussions with Pittsburgh's new management team, we are confident that high quality baseball will continue to be presented at Victory Field throughout the length of the new contract." More The Tribe's "Opening Night Weather Guarantee"

The Indians are promising that the 60-degree temperatures central Indiana has enjoyed this week will continue through Opening Night. Fans can count on the game-time temperature being at least 60 degrees when the Tribe squares off with Norfolk on Friday at 7:15 p.m. If the contest starts with a temperature of below 60, everyone in attendance will receive a FREE ticket to another home game in April. More Indians add big league veteran

Craig Wilson, who was a member of the Pittsburgh organization from 1997-2006, has signed a Minor League contract with the Pirates. The 31-year-old owns a .262 batting average with 99 home runs and 292 RBI in 698 big league contests with the Pirates, Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees.
