Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Buffalo Bisons 2-1 Thursday at The Diamond. The Braves pushed two runs home in the seventh inning to finish the homestand with their third straight win.
The game was scoreless through five innings and each club had just one hit. The Bisons took a 1-0 lead in the sixth when Andy Gonzalez knocked in a run with a bases-loaded walk. The Braves rallied in the seventh, taking the lead on a two-run single by Scott Thorman that put the Braves in front to stay.
Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton allowed just one run and two hits in 5.2 innings. Bisons starter Sean Smith worked six scoreless innings surrendering only one hit. Matt DeSalvo picked up the win. Zach Schreiber notched a save. Scott Elarton took the loss.
The Braves open their first road trip of the season against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs Friday at 7:05. Damian Moss will pitch for the Braves against J.D. Durbin.
